The Sea Normie
Norm wasn’t feeling too good last night. Poor guy.

Well we got some work done on the foredeck – got the anchor locker all rustproofed, and got the spots on the bottom ready to go, too, which is great – we can get down to some Rust Bullet work again. It’s some amazing stuff – we put 2 coats on the “scabs” on the bottom 2 years ago and NONE of it has peeled back or rusted. Really, really useful stuff – and you don’t have to coat it to protect from UV like you do with POR-15, its competitor. POR-15 is harder, though, so we tend to use it in the bilge.
Today’s question is, what do you think of this foredeck layout?
“Foredeck”
It’s been very hard to figure out where to put the windlass – behind the samson post and you’d have to lead the chain back forward; there’s no room in front of the anchor locker hatch itself; our current theory is to mount it ON the rode locker hatch, bolt that shut, and put a deck pipe on it as well. Everything is heavy steel. The new cleats are for docklines, and mooring lines; we figure at anchor we could lead the chain over one roller and the snubber over the other.
Believe me, we’ve gone through a bazillion different versions of trying to lay this out. Still, before I start making holes in the boat, I’d love some feedback. Anyone?
Still not getting out to work on the boat. This is frustrating, since we finally have the resources to start doing some real work. We were up at a friend’s camp in Beddington, Maine over the weekend (which was beautiful and awesome) so we got nothing done then – and we’ve got guests coming in over next two weekends, which means nothing will get done then, either. When I look at the big list, I get nervous – gotta get going!
